Hercules Motor and Power unit:
The Hercules motor concept is designed for an L10 life of 40 000 hours
corresponding to 5 years of continuous 24 hours per day operation. A normal
demand from process industries like Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Mineral Processing
etc. Here we assume 40 000 hours at average torque and speed. We also
assume that the working pressure for the motor is 200 bar at average torque.

Max torque and speed:
Usually the max torque is expected when starting. High starting friction,
starting with full load, starting at low temperature etc. Often called
"Brake away conditions".
In the case of a Hercules Drive system, the prime mover always starts
unloaded and double the output torque from the motor do not overload the
prime mover. Consequently the prime mover do not need to be oversized
because of starting conditions.
